Welcome back my fellow education enthusiasts and friends! Today I am following on from my previous blog to further explore the amazing benefits of EdTech and how it continues to shape the future of education. Together we will explore some benefits that EdTech brings to our classrooms, making learning fun and accessible for all students.

Hands up if you’re a teacher who wants to have students engaged and interested in their learning… yep, I thought so. You’re like me, you don’t like putting up your hand BUT you want your students engaged and enthusiastic about their learning!

Well, EdTech and engagement can go hand in hand and if you add Gamification elements into the mix, it takes it up a notch as students pit against one another for the coveted individual or class rewards… a bit like The Hunger Games but not quite the same … intensity although, that is completely dependent on the competitive nature of your students and, which may require an additional blog topic!

Personalized learning is where I think the magic really happens with EdTech and thanks to the wonderful world of technology and adaptive learning platforms the result is an overwhelming number of options available to educators like you and I, that cater for a variety of individual student needs and learning styles. It is like having a dedicated personal tutor for each of our students who can calculate and examine their responses to curriculum information and concepts far quicker than we are humanly capable of ever doing and then adapting and modifying the learning material whilst analysing the data all in real time. WOW! Just wow! How phenomenally amazing is that and the possibilities for student learning is just out of this world. Students are learning at their own pace, unlocking their full potential, and reaching new heights of knowledge and building their capacity for success and growth. That is the power of the incorporation of EdTech with personalized learning and I am thankful for having a tool that assists me in making this a possibility for students in my classes.

This brings me to my next point, INCLUSIVITY! EdTech is a total champ for the diverse learner. It breaks down barriers and makes education accessible for everyone! As a teacher, I am extremely passionate about ensuring that my students can access the curriculum and that they are provided with the tools to do so. EdTech has helped me achieve this by providing my students with the tools needed to experience success in their learning. I shall dive into this idea further in my next blog … but for now, let's continue.

Real-world application … a conundrum as how do we as educators provide our students with the opportunity to connect their learning to the world beyond the classroom, particularly for those of us teaching in rural or remote areas. Enter EdTech… yes walk right on EdTech using your very best Tom Hiddleston dance moves you swanky “sun of click,’ transforming education with every tap! Simulations, virtual laboratories, and augmented reality are gateways to exciting and “practical” experiences that were not a reality for someone my age in school but are an exciting edition to many classrooms now. Digital literacy and 21st century skills are non-negotiables in today’s world with many employers citing this as a desired skills for school leavers given the advancement in technological use in many service and industry employment sectors. EdTech equips students with these skills, fostering critical thinking, problem solving and creativity and bringing the world into our classrooms.

Real-world application, digital literacy and 21st century skills all require students and teachers (yep us too) to be collaborative and competent communicators and take a bow EdTech… yes you got it, technology assists in developing these skills in us. EdTech provides the opportunity for students and teachers alike to connect and collaborate with peers globally. The online learning community allows us to share ideas, discuss and grow as we listen and learn from one another, which is simply amazing. EdTech has reformed professional development, with online webinars and courses allowing us to continue to upskill, collaborate and share best practices and stories of our challenges and successes in the classroom and it makes teaching feel a little bit less lonely.

Anyway, I have kept you long enough; however, I think it is fair to say that we agree that EdTech is a total game-changer when it comes to engaging students in their learning. It makes education an inclusive and attractive environment, preparing students for a positively bright future filled with wonderful possibilities. So, embrace EdTech and share your success and struggles as we continue to explore the fast-evolving world EdTech in education. Until next time, happy learning beautiful people!
